This session will explore how to identify and support the communication development of children who may be Gestalt Language Processors.

Course objectives to understand:

  • What is a gestalt?
  • The role of echolalia
  • Different forms of natural language processing
  • Developmental stages in gestalt language acquisition
  • How to identify whether a child might be a Gestalt Language Processor
  • How to support children to make progress with their language learning
  • Strategies to support children who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)
